Welcome
Thank you for visiting the website for the Montgomery County State’s
Attorney’s Office. I began my career in the Montgomery County
State’s Attorney’s Office in 1982 and it is my distinct honor to now
serve as the State’s Attorney. During these years, this office and
our County have seen dramatic changes. Responding to the challenges
posed by these changes, this Office became the first prosecutor’s
office in the United States to implement Community Prosecution.
Assigning our prosecutors according to police districts and
neighborhood enables them to work more effectively with civic
associations, business groups, schools, and faith-based
organizations to directly fight crime at its source. As a component
of Community Prosecution, prosecutors have been assigned to work in
the police districts and to interact positively with our police
officers and our concerned citizens on a daily basis. Moreover, we
assign a prosecutor as a liaison to every school in our county.
Finally, we have made significant strides to enhance the diversity
of our Office, establish two Domestic Violence dockets, an Elder
Abuse Task force, a Citizens’ Complaint Bureau, a no-plea policy on
handguns used to commit violent crimes, and established the state’s
first full-time gang prosecutor.
Our Office prosecutes over 30,000 criminal and
incarcerable traffic cases every year. The 70 dedicated and
professional prosecutors who work in this Office are here to serve
the public, and seek justice in an aggressive and fair manner on
behalf of the victims of crime. We see ourselves as
problem-solvers, not merely as case-processors. Again, thank you
for visiting our website. If you have any concerns not addressed
here, or need to contact us, please feel free to call at
(240)777-7300.
